The story of the Lake Tahoe Concours d’Elegance began in 1972 when a small group of Tahoe Yacht Club members gathered at Chamber’s Landing. What started as a simple gathering of wooden boat lovers has evolved into a must-see spectacle that educates and inspires. The show moved several times—first to Tahoe City’s Tahoe Boat Company in 1976, then to the Sierra Boat Company in Carnelian Bay in 1993, and finally back to its roots at Obexer’s Boat Company in 2014. Obexer’s, the first wooden boat dealership in Tahoe, provides a perfect backdrop for these floating masterpieces.

In 1994, the Tahoe Yacht Club Foundation was founded, giving the Concours a cause beyond showcasing beautiful boats. With a mission to preserve the environment and history of the Lake Tahoe Basin, the Foundation has awarded over $410,000 in grants to maritime-related, charitable, and cultural organizations.
