A Weekend of Wonders: Your Guide to Sacramento’s Free Museum Weekend

This March 2-3, Sacramento Area Museums are opening their doors for a Weekend of Wonders, offering free admission to over 20 museums across the region. As we celebrate the 26th consecutive year of this cherished event, it’s your chance to dive deep into the heart of California’s capital and uncover the stories, innovations, and artistic expressions that have shaped not only the state but the world.

Why You Can’t Miss This
The Free Museum Weekend is not just an event; it’s a cultural movement. It brings together families, history buffs, art lovers, and curious minds of all ages to celebrate Sacramento’s rich heritage and vibrant community. From the world’s largest collection of antique agricultural equipment at the California Agriculture Museum to the futuristic explorations at the Aerospace Museum of California, each museum offers a unique window into the past, present, and future.

Plan Your Adventure
With 20+ participating museums, planning is key. Start by securing your advance tickets, as capacity is limited and they’re required for free admission. Interested in history? The Sacramento History Museum and the State Capitol Museum offer fascinating insights into the state’s past. Art enthusiasts will marvel at the collections at the Crocker Art Museum, while the little ones can let their imaginations run wild at Fairytale Town and the Sacramento Children’s Museum.
