Capital Dance Project Presents: Behind the Barre 10th Anniversary Celebration
As the sun sets on Sacramento’s vibrant arts scene, the Capital Dance Project (CDP) invites you to a spectacular celebration of dance, music, and visual artistry at the 10th Anniversary production of Behind the Barre. This much-anticipated event, taking place on September 6th and 7th, 2024, at The Red Museum’s outdoor amphitheater, promises to be an unforgettable evening of creativity and collaboration.
Launched in 2015, CDP is an independent collective of professional dancers dedicated to uplifting the spirit of the Sacramento community through innovative and inclusive performing arts experiences. Behind the Barre, CDP’s annual production, exemplifies this mission by bringing together over 30 local artists in a thrilling multi-media performance. Since its inception, Behind the Barre has premiered 50 world-class dance works, showcasing the talents of more than 60 local artists, musicians, and dancers.
On September 6th, the festivities begin at 6:30 PM for a local Maker’s Mart, featuring an array of vendors, artists, food trucks, beer, wine, and music, setting the perfect tone for an evening of artistic exploration. The performance begins at 8:00 PM, where CDP’s resident choreographers, paired with Sacramento’s most exciting visual artists and musicians, will present new, innovative works. Each performance is preceded by an introductory film by long-time CDP collaborator Natalie Manning, offering a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the collaborative process.
Ticket options are designed to cater to all audiences. For $30, attendees can enjoy General Admission Hillside seating and are encouraged to bring their own blanket or cushion. For a more elevated experience, General Admission Riser Seating is available for $60. On opening night, an additional $20 add-on provides exclusive access to CDP’s 10th Anniversary VIP After-party, where guests can mingle with the artists and celebrate a decade of artistic excellence.
Behind the Barre is not just a performance; it’s a testament to the power of collaboration and the vibrant arts community in Sacramento.
